This is a press release from USAID.
TANGIER, MOROCCO — From March 2-4, 2020, the Positive Youth Development (PYD) Symposium will take place in Tangier, bringing together government officials, subject matter experts, and practitioners on youth development from around the Middle East and North Africa region.
Positive youth development is an intentional development approach that engages youth, their families, communities, and governments in innovative programs to build young people’s skills, assets, and competencies. Within countries, positive youth development helps foster healthy relationships, strengthen the enabling environment, and transform systems.
The conference is sponsored by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Distinguished youth development experts, government officials, researchers, youth, and public and private sector partners from the Middle East and North Africa will participate.
During the three-day event, participants will discuss, critique, and agree on ways to improve the effectiveness, scale, and sustainability of youth programs that are grounded in the PYD approach, with a focus on inclusion and conflict-affected contexts. The agenda features expert speakers, practitioners, and youth who will present promising practices for advancing youth development outcomes in the region.
