U.S. Ambassador Bush just returned from his second trip to Oujda, where he celebrated the opening of the International Rai Festival, one of Morocco’s top musical events, drawing fans from all over Morocco, Algeria and Europe. While in Oujda, he met with the Wali of the Oriental region, Mohamed Mhidia, held a roundtable with youth leaders at the American Corner, took a tour of the Medina, learned about new economic initiatives at the Technopole site, met with local artists at the opening of the “Entre Nous” art exhibit, and attended a dinner hosted by the President of the Rai Festival, Dr. Amara. One of the highlights of his trip was visit to Oum El Koura Language Center in Berkane, where the students led an exciting Q&A session with the Ambassador.
