The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the Free Groove African Lion 2022 Tour.
U.S. Military Band Free Groove will play a series of free, public concerts in Morocco June 17-28, bringing their unique blend of American rock, pop, and jazz to local audiences in celebration of the African Lion military exercises and our bilateral security partnership. Free Groove is the U.S. Army Europe and Africa’s premier jazz ensemble composed of talented soldiers.
Free Groove is comprised of Soldiers who were specifically selected for their improvisation and jazz arranging abilities. This group of highly-skilled Soldier-Musicians performs music from a wide range of jazz styles including straight-ahead, bebop, cool-jazz, and Latin. Beyond entertaining U.S. Troops, Free Groove regularly performs in front of top U.S. Army leadership and their diplomatic guests.

Casablanca, June 17, Place des Nations Unies as part of World Music Day Festival
Kasbah Mehdia, June 19, in front of the Kasbah gates
Rabat, June 21, at the esplanade of the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco
Tangier, June 23, on the Corniche
Agadir, June 26, Place Al Wahda (corniche)
Taroudant, June 28, Place 20 Aout
All concerts will start at 19:00 and will be free and open to the public.
American Fulbright Scholar Katie Hicks and her band of Moroccan musicians playing Tirroysa music will be performing with Free Groove in Rabat, Agadir, and Taroudant.
Free Groove’s African Lion 2022 Tour is organized by the U.S. Embassy, in partnership with EMAA Foundation, and other local partners.
