Statement by Ambassador Dwight Bush on the 2016 U.S. Presidential Elections
Americans throughout the United States went to the polls on November 8 to cast their ballots for the next President of our nation. As an American citizen, there is something truly special about watching the results come in, seeing history being made, and knowing that you participated in that process. We also know that no matter what, our democratic system will continue to function, uninterrupted, because our institutions are strong, and our Constitutional process is sacred.
Morocco and the United States are strong partners and will continue to be because we have a long history and a deep, enduring friendship. The areas of cooperation between our countries, whether it’s fighting terrorism, advancing trade and entrepreneurship, or improving the access to education, have a firm foundation.
While I can’t speak to the specific priorities of the next administration, I can assure you that, as an Embassy, we will continue our work here to promote democratic values, and strengthen cooperation between our countries. My focus and the focus of my staff of career diplomats and public servants will be to ensure that the new administration understands the strength and importance of our bilateral relations to ensure a smooth and efficient transition.
