The U.S. Department of Interior (DOI) and the Moroccan High Commission for Water, Forests, and the Fight Against Desertification (HCEFLCD) partnered to develop and install five new visitor orientation signs at the Oukeimden entrance of Toubkal National Park, Morocco’s oldest and most-visited protected area.
The signs were developed under a new strategy to enhance visitor experience at Toubkal by orienting visitors upon arrival, providing them with relevant information about the Park’s rules and regulations, and increasing awareness about the importance of environmental conservation of Morocco’s protected areas. The signage program is part of broader cooperation between the DOI and the HCEFLED to develop sustainable tourism in Morocco’s national parks, ongoing since 2010.
