Security Alert – U.S. Embassy Rabat – October 13, 2023 – Demonstrations in Morocco
Event: Protests are planned in the coming days throughout Morocco. The U.S. Embassy in Morocco reiterates the importance of maintaining a high level of vigilance and practicing good situational awareness near any protests and demonstrations.
U.S. citizens in Morocco are encouraged to review the Department of State travel advisory for Morocco, which recommends that U.S. citizens avoid demonstrations and crowds, stay alert in locations frequented by tourists, and be prepared to adjust travel plans.
While we are not aware of specific, credible threats against U.S. citizens in Morocco at this time, travelers to and from Morocco are urged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive Alerts and to make it easier to be located in an emergency.
